Elegy for April by Benjamin Black (the pseudonym of Man Booker Prize winner John Banville) is the second mystery featuring hard-drinking Dublin pathologist Quirke. This time out, he’s helping his daughter whose friend, a well-connected young doctor, seems to have disappeared. We had hoped to get this signed, but the "Ash Cloud," as it is now called, prevented Black from touring. He has sent us signed bookplates, and these are laid in. This is the true first edition. $25.00
Cara Black has signed her tenth mystery featuring investigator Aimee Leduc. Murder in the Palais Royal is, like Black’s other stories, set in Paris -- a wonderful treat not only for the armchair detective, but also for the armchair traveler. $25.00
The Burning Wire by Jeffery Deaver goes on sale next Tuesday, but we do have signed copies stacked away in the back, so order now. This Lincoln Rhyme thriller finds the forensic psychologist on the trail of a killer whose weapon of choice cripples New York City with fear. By the way, it has just been announced by Ian Fleming’s estate, that Deaver will be penning the next James Bond thriller. Congratulations to him! This is a Hard Boiled Crime Club Selection. $26.99

Stephanie Pintoff ‘s second mystery, A Curtain Falls, again features Detective Simon Ziele. This time, Ziele is back in New York City investigating a possible serial killer who is targeting chorus girls. Laura Joh Rowland stopped by to sign Bedlam, the second in her series featuring Charlotte Bronte. While visiting London, Charlotte tours Bedlam, that city’s notorious insane asylum, where she thinks she recognizes an ex-lover strapped to one of the stretchers. $24.95
